The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is an American commercial broadcast television network that is owned by the Disney–ABC Television Group, a subsidiary of Disney Media Networks division of The Walt Disney Company. The network is headquartered on Columbus Avenue and West 66th Street in Manhattan, New York.
The facility provides a wide range of broadcasting operations and recently designed a new broadcast studio located in the B1 basement level.
Due to stringent requirements for an ultra-quite electromagnetic environment, and the fact the proposed studio was directly adjacent to the buildings main electrical distribution systems, FMS was engaged to conduct a thorough assessment of the studios design for EMI interference concerns. An extensive broadband (DC through 3 GHZ) survey was conducted at the site to identify potential EMI threat sources external to the site which included underground utility service and tenant owned electrical distribution equipment. A document review and extensive on-site survey studies were conducted to evaluate EMF emissions from the building’s electrical distribution, mechanical and other systems.
Utilizing the survey and design criteria data, FMS identified multiple areas which were potentially at EMI risk due to adjacency to EMI sources. To mitigate EMI threat concerns, FMS designed and implemented multiple special magnetic field shielding schemes to lower EMF levels to acceptable, non EMI threat levels.
Over its 20 years, FMS has successfully completed hundreds of EMI projects which included a diverse range of consulting and mitigation services.
